I was driving down the road and saw this big guy basking in the middle of the sidewalk. I immediatly pulled over to snap some pics. A woman was riding her bike towards it and freaked out when she realized it was not a rock. Looks very plump and well fed to me. Shot in Indy.

those always amaze me and I find it amazing that we have so many old snappers here. I was over by the marion county fair a few years back when there was one right on fisher road. We moved him out of the road and he went down to the ditch and we never seen him again. Great pics!

We get those around here this time of year also. It's probably a girl looking to nest.They can/will travel pretty far from water to nest.
