Our little family is growing!!!!!

Well as you can see by my signature at the bottom, or little family has expanded considerably over the weekend. First we offered to take on our friend's Red Foot indefinitely while he looks for a new place. Then the Daytona show came along. We picked up one albino and one regular ornate horned frog (both babies). Then after much wandering I came across some Egyptian Uro babies that the guy was offering for a really really good price because they had a couple damaged toes (fit right in with our Jerry's Kids, right???). They weren't terribly active, but their eyes were bright, they were clean, and they weren't too thin (of course, everything looks thin next to our Mali porkers). The two best of the bunch, one that looks like it could be female and the other could be male, way too early to tell with anycertainty, were put in a little plastic dish and made the trek back to the car with me. Almost immediately after the sun hit them they started to run around in the dish, trying to push the lid off. I took little Yzma out and she climbed up to sit on my shirt, meanwhile Kronk got the better of me and leaped out of the plastic thing while i wasn't looking and tried to hide under the car seat heh. So we all made the long trek back, I took a couple of pictures last night while they were both pretty sleepy looking, I'll post them soon. Got them settled temporarily in a big Rubbermaid container (they're getting a real cage after we move some of the others around, got a new really big cage for one of the monitors, have to move everybody, yadda yadda).

This morning I was a little worried. only Kronk had come wandering out of the rubbermaid container to bask, Yzma was still down there. So i took her out and put her under the basking spot while I made them a great big salad of turnip greens, peas, sweet potato, yellow squash, carrot slivers, and zucchini, all finely chopped for their little mouths. gave them a little seed too. put it in the cage and they both looked at the food like they'd never seen it before. i went to move kronk closer to the food and he ran away which made me feel better, at least he had energy but little Yzma barely moved until she was in my hand. So I took the container we used to carry them home and filled it with about 3/8" of warm water and took them outside to enjoy some nice florida sun. Yzma's little head came up within a minute and she lifted her chest up out of the container while Kronk just sat there giving me the evil eye. After about 20 minutes I started to take them back inside and they both started trying to leap out of the container. Now they are back in the rubbermaid, have started to nibble at their food, and I can hear their little claws cage dancing. Yzma especially is making quite a bit of scratching noises, even managed to hoist herself up on top of their hide spot.

Sorry, I know this is long but I'm so excited. For any of you Egyptian owners out there, anything else I should be doing? Pictures soon of our new guys!!

O.k., so I have these guys a TON of food this morning, and it's almost all gone!!! it was the equivalent of a very heaping handful of food. i just gave them another small handful of greens, and if they finish that off these two babies will have taken on in one day what my 3 adult uros normally would. sweet jesus!!
