Difference Halloween - Orange Oreo

Misfits Jun 20, 2007 05:24 AM

Hi folks,
can someone explain the difference between the Halloween and the Orange Oreo Phase at the Pueblan Milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum campbelli)?

Thanks and greetings from Gemany

They're the same. Oreo is black and yellow/white, halloween is orange and black. Both types lack red. We don't calll them "orange oreos" in the States, but if we did, they'd be halloweens.

Hello,
thank you Tim for the Information, I was a little confused about the Orange Oreo Name because I could not find anything about them only Halloween Phase.

By the way do you know something about the genetic? I've got a couple at home a male Halloween and a female animal from the same clutch but it's looking like a Apricote Phase with very stron colors (the apricot is a stron orange)

Greetings Malte

The consensus is that oreo and halloween are not simple recessive genetic traits. So while they're pretty cool, there doesn't seem to be a predictable way to produce oreo or halloween offspring - even when breeding oreo-to-oreo.

"Apricot" is a somewhat vague term. While some Pueblans are definately orange, most "apricots" are yellowish-orange, or a mix of "classic" Pueblan and what I'd consider a "good" apricot.

Hi,
thanks for the infos, so i hope that i get some goodlooking Halloween Hatchlings in the next years. Is it true that the animals loose lot of their coloration when they get older? I mean that the orange turns fader?
Sorry for so many questions but here in europe Halloweens are still very rare and so you don't see many adult animals.
