found on road side... ALIVE

bps516 Jun 20, 2007 11:41 AM

Two weeks ago during lunch my wife (who works at a chain PetStore and was in uniform) ended up talking to the waitress about reptiles including our iguana Bud (waitress has 2 water dragons). Well, yesturday my wife was working and in walks the waitress asking about emergency care ideas for an iguana she actually found on the side of the road... Of course the reptile vet that we both go to is out of town till next week (she already made the appointment). I am working on getting a picture of it. It is definately malnurished and not in good health, not sure of age but from what I understand it looks sub adult - adult, not too young. Is there something we can tell her to do until the vet is back? She already has a cage, lighting, etc set up to take care of that aspect and it seems to be eating and drinking. I know with our beardie we have used Pedialite baths, does that work for iguanas too?

*sigh*- i see those a lot- we give them pedialite baths occasionally- they don't absorb as much- like snakes or beardies. I ususally give them the uv lights and a secluded area. i also cut up veggies much smaller than needed and offer it on a tupperware lid- so there isnt much effort involved in getting it out of a bowl- you might mist the leafies and veggies with pedialite as well.
good luck

Thanks for the reply! I would have never thought about misting with pedialite!
