Mali wont eat

hereiam Jun 20, 2007 12:01 PM

i just got a Mali from PetSmart and it was fat and good when i got it. i had to leave it at my boyfriends house for about three days and it was fine there and ate. when i brought it to my house he seemed fine but he wont eat. i put fresh food in the tank everyday. he acts fine, it doesnt seem like anything is wrong. i leave the food in the tank over night because my b/f said he would eat at night. but he still doesnt touch it. what should i do?

Could be any number of reasons why your mali wont
eat.

You have to let us know some things before we can
attempt to help you ... such as:
Is this mali a wc/cb? Hatchling juvenile or larger. What
size is it? Total length including tail is ... ? Wt in grams is ... ?
Is he in the same tank/enclosure that he was in at your
b/f's house? Dimensions?
Cage set up exactly the same or close including furniture
and substrate?
Same or similar temp gradient ... basking end is? Cool end is?
What is the basking surface temp at?
Is the room you have him in about the same temp as your b/f's?
Is the tank in a low traffic area where he can quietly acclimate?
Are you offering it treats like rose petals, hibiscus flowers and/or
dandelion flowers in order to jump start his appetite?
Are you feeding the same food as your b/f was ... which is?
What kind of lights? (Fluorescent as well as Basking).
What's the photo period (lights are on for ?-hours per day)?
Is this our first uromastyx / reptile?
These are some of the more helpful things to know so that
the members on this forum can try to help you with your non
eating mali.
