ATTN Roadcruising TX now illegal

Joe Forks Jun 20, 2007 01:16 PM

I have been asked to repost this for those that may Have missed it.

HB 12 was signed by Governor Rick Perry on June 15th with riders attached that included pre-amendment text of HB 2414 & 1309.

The law went into effect IMMEDIATELY upon signature by the Governor.

We are working on strategies to effect change in the law, more ideas are welcome.

Like a good plan to not have any altercations with LE or get any citations until this is resolved. We do not want to build any bad blood and we do not want to loose any ground in our fight with matters of public record.

We were stopped by warden Spears in the Xmas mtns early the morning of the 17th. He said it goes into effect Sept 1.

Austin and Spears obviously not in agreement then.
I hope Ray is correct!

All the parts are not working together... It sucks, but it seems that we get no answer, or conflicting answers..

This is betting on a safe horse, but I will admit it is no fun to think about.

From talking with Spears and friends, it seems like there will be a delay on exactly how to enforce this. They don't know what penalties will be ("somewhere between $25 and $100"or how they will actually translate the law.
Sure, WE are all up in arms, and the wardens know all about it (probably from us), but I guess we'll see how serious they are by watching how fast this stuff gets processed.
I never thought they had us in mind when writing the bill. Maybe I was being naiive, but like the rest of us, I can't see any good reason for the whole thing.

Non enforcement till Sept 1, this way we get to use our 07 license that some have already bought. Also gives us time to work out a comprimise that everyone on both sides can live with, shows comprimise on both sides of this issue, without any hard feelings between us and TPW. Just my 2 cents worth. Clark

I dont reply to these messages often but my idea is if they are going to enforce this bill now or are saying that it should be inforced now, that makes me view it as an illegal activity NOW. I do not do illegal things. I purchased a full combo liscense this year. I take advantage of everything that the state has to offer in the way of hunting and fishing. If it is illegal now and I can not go out and road cruise like I have done in the past then my liscense is not good to me anymore. I think that REIMBURSEMENT of money is due since one of the activities that I enjoy was taken away from me in the middle of Prime hunting season. What would deer hunters think if during the Rut it was made illegal to hunt Whitetail? I know that would not happen but what IF. Matt.

Bravo!!! I bought an annual nonresident license ($125) a little more than a week ago after communication from Sinclair's office in Austin reported a Sept 1 effective date. I haven't even set foot in texas yet!
BTW, nice alterna.

It is a male I found west of alpine about 4 yrs ago. This is the female that I caught on the same cut. I am going to be posting some more of My pics here shortly. Matt

That has to be the absolute nicest looking Alpine Alterna ever. In fact it is way up there on the all time list in my book.

Thanks for the comment. I like her a lot infact you may have heard a rumor a while back about a guy standing on the shoulders of his hunting buddy and jumping for an alterna. It was funny for me to hear in the alpine area. You tell one guy that your buddy gave you a boost and the next you hear something totally different. Ps I posted my Alterna on the alterna pics page for proof of capture when it was legal. Matt
