How do you know when dragon ready to lay?

Piglet106 Aug 17, 2003 01:08 PM

I was curious as to when you know a drop is ready to lay eggs? I have a female, who is not a "scratcher", but is now scratching often and there has been some breeding behavior in my tank.....I have put her in a seperate tank with fresh substrate....is this the right thing to do?

Thanks

Cheryl

Gently rub your hand around the underside of her belly.
Can you feel anything?
(When my female was digging to lay, I could feel 4 or 5 marble-sized lumps...)

If she's digging, I'd go ahead and put her in some sort of large rubbermaid containor or a tank.
Fill the containor with 7-12 inches of moist playsand or vermiculite.
She will start digging around, and should lay eggs in 1-3 days.

Good luck, and keep us posted!
