260 gallon tank??? Wow, would love to see a picture or two of such a beast of a tank. As far as your question it would depend on the setup of the tank and if there are things to keep each lizard out of line of sight. There are more learned Collared keepers though.
haha its a screen cage... my bad! it sounds big but i wish i could make a bigger one like my monitors r in... 8x4x3 but my Mom would not let me
oh well shes the boss. at least she lets me keep lizards a lot of girls dont like them. here is my female desert monitor.

i have a two hundred gallon aquarium, and its realy not that big, its not small.2'x2.5'x5.3'.
male easterns in the same 60gl. tank with two females and they get along fine, but it could have gone the other way, I tried to mix Eastern Collareds and Leopard lizards, the male Eastern atacked the male Leopard in like 5 sec. he was head bobbin as I put the lizards in the tank, when I put the top back on they were going at it, so I guess it's the luck of the draw.
Well we are always told NO males together! I say that to people but.... I do also tell them what I observe from having so many. I have some males who I know not to put together, I also have some males that have bee living together for years with no problems.
I have a couple males who free roam together, but do not allow any girls down with them for any length of time, unless I'm there in the reptile room.
What I have noticed is when a new male is turned loose on the floor the free roamers will run over and tongue him to check him out, the new guy will sometimes display while this checking out is going on, and he is either accepted and allowed to proceed to the floor basking area or not accepted and a little gaping goes on.
MOST of the time atleast in captivy here, they will accept the other male and all is fairly peaceful. Some males show more aggression through the glass tank at the free roamers than anything. But when let out it's toned down. That is because the guys in the tanks have ladies to protect and keep for themselves. :0)
**One major problem to look out for is if you would see one male NOT gaining weight or eating well, sometimes with certain males it does seem stressful being in a tank with another male and one is more submissive and will not eat as well. It's all in observation and keeping an eye (both eyes) lol on the situation. ALWAYS
Again these are just things I have noticed with my gang.
