drinking water

greg woodie Jun 20, 2007 05:23 PM

i just recently noticed a peculiar smell in the water in my home. first, it was like iron. now, it's almost like sulfur. could this be harmful to my snake collection? my landlord is currently working to replace the filter and hopefully rectify the problem. i appreciate any help/advice you can offer. thanks!

While I'm quick to say it probably isn't a problem at all, there is quite a difference in tap water from big city to small town, to west coast, east coast ect. The fact that the landlord has a filter for it might suggest otherwise.

To be safer rather than sorry, I'd use bottled water until this blows over.

I would likewise think it is likely just colloidal iron in the water source (well?) and that the filter is to make the water more appealing. Some people don't like sulfur tasting water, some adapt. We have lived for 20yrs with a sulfur well and all of us are fine. Just smells sometimes.
BUT, disclaimer is that if that is all it is. But it is my guess.
