Dark-eyed Aner Kisatchie Cornsnake

KJUN Jun 20, 2007 08:37 PM

Here is an F2 dark-eyed anerythristic Kisatchie cornsnake. The parents are captive-hatched normals from a female captured gravid in central Louisiana.

For those of you that get Reptilia Magazine, watch for more images and information in the upcoming volume.

Cool looking snake, eh?

Hey D:

No, that's a hold back from last year. She's a weanling-eating subadult right now. The hatchlings aren't born that high contrasting. After thy shed, I'll post some of this years hatchlings, I guess.

Awesome specimen, KJ. I love the lack of yellow and can't wait until we test breed these to anery A corns. Wouldn't it be sweet if they're not allelic?

Somehow I knew you'd tear off the scab. Man, I was just getting over that.

Seriously, KJ. Huge congratulations to you for being so intent with the Kisatchies. I'll go out on a limb here and say nobody in the hobby has seen and handled as many wild caught specimens as you. It's so exciting that you discovered this new recessive in the species. Now, get to work on finding the first albino and please, let it be non allelic to the albino corn and Emory's mutations.

Fingers crossed on the soon-to-hatch eggs. Let us all see what ya get for Christmas. I liken hatching season to the first Christmas of the year. Ya can't peek and rewrap those gifts. Ya hafta wait til they open themselves.
