taeniura mocquardi holdback

RandyWhittington Jun 21, 2007 12:14 AM

This is an 05 het for albino taeniura mocquardi holdback male. He is only about 3 ft and is already this bright yellow. He is small for an 05 due to not being an aggressive feeder his first 6 months or so. I cant imagine how bright he will be at 6ft as they get brighter with size. Randy W.

I'm a big fan of the beauty clan and I personally like that look better than any of the cave 's I've seen (admittedly a limited number). I also think the normals are prettier than the albino's, especially that guy you posted.

chinese beauty. Not sure what happened!

An old pic, she's grown quite a bit. Kind of like a poor man's version of moquardi.

they are great looking as albino's ( I know you are aware of that. ) Please be sure to post update pic's. Maybe you can keep a log of various pictures from now till full maturity.

I think that would be, an interesting serious of pictures to peruse. Even better if you already have photos from his piping date, then document, in increments that show a definite change in the snakes phenotype.

BTW I have been wanting this species in it's albino form since the first time I saw it. In my opinion, in their albino form, they are the best looking snakes in their Clade.

Thanks Frank. Here is my adult male albino. I have a clutch of eggs due to hatch in a couple weeks from this guy and a female albino I have. I'm really looking forward to seeing them hatch as I only hatched one albino last year.

RandyWhittington Jun 21, 2007 06:37 PM

This is a hatchling albino right out of the egg last year. RW

This is either the male above or the best female out of the same clutch right after they hatched in 05. Randy

lol = is for the fact that I have seen that picture before and that is the exact snake that gave me that opinion of mine.

ULTRA nice specimen.

There are a few different species in this group expressing albinism.

Do all the strains from this group have their own unique strain of albinism ?

I am sure some may mix the species to transfer the gene from one group or another regardless.

I was wondering are all the species/subspecies in this group carriers of their own distinct representation of albinism ?

As far as I know the only two subspecies of taeniura with albino in the line that are true are the Mocquards (taeniura mocquardi) and the Chinese (taeniura taeniura) beauties. The line of mocquardi I have originated from a albino male owned by Larry Keller. I am not sure where the chinese line started but I think there are pure albinos of the subspecies. Randy
