So tiny! Are these the blue ones? I was just going to ask to see more pix!!!

What do they eat? Worms?

FireStorm Jun 21, 2007 10:59 AM

Wow, those are tiny! They're so cute!

chonjoepython Jun 21, 2007 01:11 PM

yeah, these are the blue ones. they get bluer with age, and some are better than others. ill keep the best two girls and breed them to my best blue male. they will eat small guppies, and yes, small earthworms until they can be switched to pink mice. here is the male ill be using in the future, youve seen him before.
thanx all for the comments.

thanx mike. i was surprised to see so many babies. mom is small, and i expected four of so babes. in total there were seven, and one slug or jellybean. on baby actually escaped moms cage and in my haste to capture it the little bugger slithered under my front screen door to freedom. unfortunately, he probably wont survive the hot dry midwest summer.

They are so cute! After I saw your post when you got yours I copied you and got two of my own

Heat Jun 21, 2007 06:33 PM

where did you get them from?

tomorrow264 Jun 21, 2007 08:33 PM

In the classifieds under other snakes a guy named Bob is selling them. Thats where I got mine.

I have one of those cool blue garter snakes! They are fast as hell. What's scary is when you first put them in a new cage they bang the walls of the cage so furiously trying to escape. They eat a lot of gold fishes as well.

COOL. they are indeed awesome little snakes. i too got mine from bob. you cant tell me that if a ball python hatched out sky blue on black it would not be worth a quater mil. but i guess that is apples to oranges. best of luck with your garters and all of your snakes everyone.

...i am sending a couple of these pickerini to my bro in kentucky. he is a biology professor at centre college, and used to live in washinton state. jeff told me that this subspecies of Thamnophis sirtalis can eat a type of salamander (i forgot which species) that is fatally poisonous to other garter snakes. i found that to be very interesting.
