The Huachuca Mountain King Snake picture was taken by my wife while she was "Geocaching" a couple miles from our house. I live just below Miller Canyon (Huachuca mountains). I took the pictures of the long-nose snake and Sonora King Snake. Both were in my back yard (about a week a part). I see the Sonora king snake regularly in my back yard.

I am lovin' those animals! Great shots, the longnose is very dark and quite striking!

Very nice! I would love to find snakes like that in my back yard.

Wow! Great pics! Were those all in the same day? Those were my target species last year when I visited the Huachucas, but all we saw were tons of Yarrows Spineys.

The pictures were taken over a two-week period. I also saw some gopher snakes, desert grassland whiptails, Clark Spiny lizards, Yarrow spiny lizards, desert box turtle, woodhouse toads (they breed in my pond), patch nose snake, diamond backs, and maybe a few other critters. I will post a picture of the speckled rattlesnake I photographed in Havasupi canyon, a week ago, when I get a chance. This is a great place to live.

So I have to ask, as I'm sure many here would like to know, what do you do that allows you to live in such a beautiful herp-laden area?

I spent most of my life in Phoenix but moved here to breed reptiles. I also work for the City of Sierra Vista.

That is awesome. How lucky you are to live there. Do you see many yellow blacktail rattlers?

Even though I live here I am too busy to spend much time hunting for herps (I do find the time to walk up Miller Canyon with my wife quite often). Most of what I see is in my yard. So far I have seen 6-species of lizards, 4-species of amphibians, 1-species of turtle, and 13-species of snakes all in my back yard. The blacktails are fairly common a little higher up the mountain and all are fantastic specimens.

I love that longnose - I'm still trying to find my first one.
Those kings are excellent as well.
