Artist - Send in your best fakes...

lbenton Jun 21, 2007 11:58 AM

Attention artist, Please send in your best fake snake to Roy at the Outback. It must be something native to the Trans Pecos region. It could be big or small, it does not have to be an alterna, it can be anything you wish as long as it is as realistic as you can make it.

Address is in the link below...

Outback Oasis Motel

Is Roy to busy to make his own? Tsk, tsk.

But it would be nice to have some variety on hand. After all when we are no longer able to legally look on the cuts for the real thing maybe this will be fun instead.

Everybody that can needs to send an entry to Roy... Maybe next year we can have a contest to go out looking for them on the cuts....

What an awesome idea. We can all participate by finding, then relocating fake herps along the roads and cuts.

Each fake herp should include a small cannister (35mm film can) with paper so that each herper can record the find before placing it for the next herper.

Game Warden- "Are you hunting snakes?"
Me- "Sort of."
Warden- "What do you mean?"
Me- "Its a new game. We all drive around looking for and hiding fake snakes like this one." (toss a realistic Blacktail to him)
Warden- "*&@$#@*&^%^#*!*"

This would certainly take the sting out of any stings they attempt by placing fake snakes. We're not hunting herps, we're just fake snaking.

There as so many games we could play and still enjoy the Texas Back Roads we love. Kind of like a deck of cards, how many differnt games can you play with a deck of cards?

Sounds like a great way to hose up the system and waste their time, however, if I am going to spend my hard earned money for the 3 1/2 times overcharge for the big oil company's gasoline, I will be sending my receipts to the state for reimbursement. I would not participate in this unless it really hosed up their recources and drove them absolutely insane. I want them running back to the state capitol crying to Harvey boy to please please change the legislation!! We don't have time for silly games, of course at the same time, Joe Bob is illegally poaching deer somewhere lese in the state going totally un-noticed. This bill makes alot of sense don't it?

Here's a juniper root I painted a few years back. I've often been tempted to take paints out and paint some of the tasty looking roots that are sticking out of the road cuts. I have a pretty hefty rubber snake collection too. Merker saw one of them a few years ago... I think he even took photos of it. Do you still have the photos Gerry?

.. at least $50 at Daytona in August, Damon. Hey, I wonder if Wayne Hill would object if we burned Hilderbran in effigy in the Ocean Center parking lot at the Expo?
