Latte Borneo Short-tails

slickslug Jun 21, 2007 06:10 PM

Hello, I thought I'd put up a link to a gallery on my photo website, which has multiple pictures of Latte, Fade (the visual hets) and other Latte line Borneo Short-tailed Pythons.
They can be found at:
http://www.pbase.com/slickslug/borneos
I've been working with this line for a number of years, yet am continually surprised by what hatches out each spring (see picture).
There is a long way to go before all the secrets are revealed.
Using a Latte for the first time as a breeder this year certainly kicked it up a notch over previous seasons, when het to het breedings were used.
Over other years, the new combinations produced even finer Lattes, much more obviously apparent visual hets and a vast majority of animals with "double moat" patterning. I've been referring to the wide gap between both sides of the spine markings and the flank markings as "double moating" These flank and dorsal markings usually do not mingle in these animals for the entire length of the snake, leaving a wide gap between the two. There have also been many granite-sided, striped and reverse striped offspring produced.
Though it is widely believed that this line will be compatible with the ultra-breit line, only a breeding between the two will prove it one way or the other. I hope to accomplish this in the next breeding season.
Thanks and I hope you like the pictures,
Keith Brady

Keith, very nicely done.

It is interesting to see the variety you have between latte's and fade's. The appearance appears to include some type of hypo-coloration, reduced pattern as well as some type of calico/paradox effect (using ball python coined appearances for lack of better reference).
