I am no expert. I think rubber boas are gonna be way less active this time of the year and therefor much harder to find. but if you must try i would look for riparian areas within 400 yards of water and start looking around the largest rotted logs you can find, when i go looking for bottae that is where i usualy find them. Make sure when you start flipping large logs make sure you can return them to there original position, if you don't find a boa the first time you definatly won't find one the second!

where are you located in washington and where do you plan on going? I think the population of bottae is greater west of the cascades personally. If you start finding alot of boas i would also be looking for ringnecks and sharptails.

heres a good site if you don't already know about it

I live in Issaquah WA and have done alot of searching for rubbers on the west but I think I need to get closer to the puget sound area. I am heading out to Ellensburg-Cle Elum area so I am also looking for rattle snakes as well and I really want to get some horned lizards

if thats where your going then most if not all boas are gonna be next to imposible to find as its been to warm the last month and a half. You should have some good luck with crotalus and pits and there are c.c. mormon out there as well. If you do find any horned lizards just take pictures as they are one of the hardest to keep alive in captivity. good luck and i look forward to seeing some pics of northwest hertafauna!

Post on the Sand/Rosy/Rubber boa forum. If you do, Richard Hoyer might respond and he certainly knows more about Rubber boas in WA than anyone in the world.

Well I caught 3 rubbers all in 25 minutes or so right outside of Cle Elum
My buddy lifted up a large peice of carboard to find 2 rubbers one is at least 10-20 years old and she is huge and then 20 minutes later i lifted up a deep deep log and found a lil guy just chillin under there

right on, don't you love it when that happens, find what your looking for off the bat. To bad it doesn't happen like that all the time!lol! i guess the cooler temps this summer have kept them closer to the surface. Where's the pics?
