More on the safety angle...

Joe Forks Jun 21, 2007 09:34 PM

Todd K. claims he thought these laws up. I will ask him this.

60 years of Road cruising Texas no major accidents, no fatalities. If we are forced onto large private tracts of land in the Trans Pecos I bet we don't make 5 years without a fatal incident involving loss of mobility from a broken appendage, a Lion attack, Bear attack, drug or Human smuggler.

My question is will Todd K. be held accountable? Can he live with that?

If true, what makes a committee CLERK think he's even remotely qualified to think about, let alone write wildlife regulations that turns 50+ years of nongame hunting in the state of Texas on its ear without first getting input from all sides of the Texas community? I mean, who does this guy think he is?

he didn't write them. you know, and I know it.

Nothing serious at all, but was night hiking on private land in Texas last night when part of the boulder I was on broke off and I plummeted a couple feet. I was carrying a flashlight and potato rake and luckily when I put my hands out to catch myself, the potato rake fell off to the side. Would have NOT been fun if I fell on the rake or sharp rocks/cactus.

I think a signed copy on file will be important, send them to me or Joe... I think Joe will end up with them all along with the other paperwork anyway.

Email me if you want my mailing address.

I really have a concern about the private land safety angle. I think this tact may may things worse not better. I think that emphasis should be on the fact that road collecting is safe. To say that hunting private land is not safe could lead to more regulations that are detrimental to the hobby.

... concerns, not only incidents, but why you do not feel safe out there.. ie running across illegals or drug runners in remote back country, maybe getting lost, or having a handicap or just being old enough that would prevent that activity or the fact that you would no be unable to make herping a family activity if you have younger children.

I want to get these plus any more people can think of...
