getting babies to feed

arcanemind Jun 22, 2007 10:00 AM

All but one hasn't fed. I planned on starting them off for their first 2 meals live fuzzies, and then switching them over to f/t. So far, all have taken both meals but one. It has been a few weeks since the mother gave birth.

What could i do to get this little guy to feed?

Thanks for advice.

I had this problem last year. I had a little guy not eat for three weeks after he was born he was also the last to shed skipping the first one. He ate eventually, for now I would just leave the food overnight and just keep trying.

Well, I would continue to offer a food item every couple of days. I would leave it in its individual (container/enclosuer). Are you trying fuzzy mice or fuzzy rats? Leave it in for a few hours, and maybe over night. I wouldn't handle it much if any at all. Also don't keep the baby in anything too roomy. Try something small like a plastic container 6"x5"x12" if you can find one. Thats something I would try out. Good Luck.

if all else fails, get a chick (at a local mom & pop chicken place or a hatchery if you happen to live near one) and scent the rodent with the chick.
