Question about sick turtle

JDalbo Jun 22, 2007 01:20 PM

I went out looking for snakes today and stumbled across a Va. box turtle which I brought home to show my kids. I am planning to return it where I found it but noticed it has 2 large lumps. After researching it looks like an inner ear infection. If I return him to the wild is he sure to die or can they fight it off on their own. I called the vet and don't have $125 to spend on a turtle I'm not planning to keep.

Northern Virginia Reptile Rescue may be able to help you.

Check out their website: they list veterinarians that are 'friendly' toward native wildlife (click on 'local veterinarians'). They also list other resources that may come in handy.
