Nutrionally, good. However, NONE of our guys have ever cared for it. We see it as just another write off.
Not all cactus is acceptable. The nopales or prickly pear cactus is edible, but I'd be very weary of putting in just any old cactus.
nopales are easy to get where I live. They will go nuts for them for a day, maybe two, then they don't want anymore. I think it is hard for them to digest, so cut it really thin. Those things are really sweet so give them just a little, even the pads(leaves)are like fruit. Actual PRICKLY PEARS are full of seeds encased in a kiwi looking type stuff and none of mine ever ate any. Just a noob but nopales are common to ME. I think they taste pretty good, myself. Careful for the spines and those black "nubs". More of a treat then a food, although they are nutricious. Consider them a FRUIT.
