Speed of Hatching

spangles Jun 22, 2007 08:44 PM

I'm not a regular to this forum, but I thought someone may be able to help me out. I have a clutch of eggs (it was an accidental breeding, I thought I had two females living together, surprise surprise!!) and the first one pipped yesterday and is now fully hatched. None of the others have even slit their eggs yet. Is this normal and how long does it usually take for the rest to hatch?

I just had a clutch of 15 babies that took a whole week from first pip to last out. As with yours, the first to pip was out the next day and none of the other eggs had pipped. I started out thinking that I was only going to get ONE baby, and as the week went on, my numbers kept getting better until a full week later I have 15 baby corns. Be patient. I bet you have more pippies in a day or two. Duffy

Thank you! That makes me feel MUCH better. I was really getting worried about my babies!

Very exciting! I had a long day today and so had not checked eggs since last night. I got home and four were fully hatched with three more noses sticking out! Thats 7 out of 19, good so far!

Keep 'em coming. My 15 have started going thru their 1st shed cycle. 14 have eaten. A few twice. And one of the few that has already shed just had its 3rd meal today. It's like a dang nursery down there. Such fun. Duffy
