Lets see what you made......

Railrider1920 Jun 22, 2007 09:17 PM

Unfortunately I don't have anything to post. I haven't built my enclosures yet because I don't need them, but will in a few more months.

So can we see what you made? Finished pictures, step by step, as it is now, whatever you happen to have, tanks, enclosures, snakes rooms, lets see it please.

Maybe by you posting pictures of things you have made you'll inspire someone else or give them that idea they needed to finish theirs.

One thing I did make a while ago is a tank stand. It is just a 2x4 frame. It is covered with cedar siding that I salvaged from a neighbors house. It was made for a 30 gal long tank, but has a 20 long on it. In there are two corns. This is the 2nd one I made. The first one has a few coats of poly on it and it looks better.

Oak cages I made for my Brazilian Rainbow Boas. The PVC piping on the outsides are for connecting cage sections during breeding.

old pic shows tubes a little.

Racks and more racks.....

Two 10 high racks for sterilite 1754/1756 tubs. Shown with the smaller 1754's two per shelf. Also will hold the larger 1756 one per shelf.

Assembly pix

A rat growout rack I made around the home depot mortar tubs.

A pair of racks I made around CB110 tubs:

A few pix showing how the recesses were made for the flexwatt.

Some assembly pix:

Lastly a combo workbench and hatchling rack unit:

Hello- Nice racks. What are the long skinny boxes you are using for your hatchling rack?

rainbowsrus Jun 28, 2007 01:30 AM

If you mean in the last couple of pix, those are sterilite small shoe boxes. Might be out of production though, as I remember, they were 4 1/2 qt. Have not seen any recently.

WOW! My shirt is covered in drool from looking at all your pictures! I’m going to show my wife the photos so she stops nagging me about how much snake stuff I have.

I have to ask; what did you use to seal the wooden Rainbow cages? I assume the corners were cocked but it almost looks like a white laminate on the panels.

Thanks, and again, WOW!

rainbowsrus Jun 28, 2007 03:33 PM

The original rinbow cages had laminated formica floors only, the walls/ceiling were stained and several coats of varathane diamond elite water based polyurethane. Same finish is applied to the outside. You can see the same woodgrain as the outside in this pic:

My second BRB cage was a duplicate made years later with some improvements. One of which was a fully laminated interior. All surfaces are covered in formica. And yes all seams are caulked.

Older pic showing both side by side:

Please note, the first and third pix are older pix prior to upgrading to RHP's.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then that was a 20,000 plus word reply. Jeeze, how much more do you want?
