Feeding before 1st shed

duffy Jun 23, 2007 09:50 AM

I know that lots of folks don't feed until after 1st shed. But my somewhat limited experience suggests that a very high percent of hatchlings will eat almost right away. This year, 14 of my 15 baby corns have eaten pretty much right away. A few have eaten twice, and they are just now getting ready for shed.

Is waiting mostly a practical thing for folks who have lots of little mouths to feed? Wait until they are ALL good & ready so's not to waste too many pinks, etc? Duffy

To each his own but,I offer my baby corns food a day or so after they hatch. Most of mine usually eat also.I see it as giving them a "jump start" of sorts. Jeff
