Having worked with carefresh for a year, my thoughts are to change it. It should be fine in theory but it can (and usually is) exceptionally dusty. I worked a petstore and we were required to use carefresh, and most if not all of our rats came down with URIs if they stayed longer than a week. That's not something I'd willingly house my ball python on.

A cheaper and better alternative is aspen shavings, or just plain ole papertowel.
