Question on popping Pueblans

metalpest Jun 23, 2007 01:41 PM

I'm trying to pop my newborn pueblans. Some have had short white things pop, some don't. I was told to look for two red dots for the female's musk glands. So, the ones that popped are males right, or are the white things the musk glands and the red for the hemipenes? Should I assume that the ones I don't see anything on are female or should I keep looking for the musk glands to be sure?

Thanks!

Nick

Yes, the "red dots" do signify females. Newborns are easy to sex. Just give them a quick rinse in tepid water to agitate and they'll give it up the first time around.

Another hatched and I popped small white things. I didn't see any red so I'm guessing male. I have yet to see the red dots, but I can't seem to pop the males very far so I need more practice obviously.

What is "tepid" water?

Thanks for the response!
