Eggs not looking great

midas_dc Jun 23, 2007 01:45 PM

A couple of my females laid eggs about 4 weeks ago.
they were looking perfect for the first 4 weeks.
I have changed nothing since and have been spraying about once a week to keep the humidity up.

Now some of the eggs are caving in. I increasde spraying because I thought this was because of dehydration, but this hasnt helped the problem.

Furthermore, some of the other eggs have developed large translucent areas of the egg. Almost to the point where you can see in. I have no idea what this is or why this has happened.

The temp in my incubator is about 83

Any help would be great...I am afraid they will die is these problems persist

thanks

did you candle them to make sure they are fertile,if you did then keep the humidity up and dont worry too much,as long as there is no mold or other major problems.

Are you spraying them with a "duster" ? Be VERY carefull NOT to hit the eggs, they could die.

If you build an inqubator "the right" way, it shouldnt be necessary to spray, and the humidity and temp´s should be stable.

About you're temp. In my opinion its a little on the high side. Personnally I hatche mine at 79 F/26 C. Takes a little longer, but babies are bigger and stronger. Again my personal opinion.
