I hope to get a pair of texan's. I'd like to get a female this year and a male next year. I've read that they are much more rare than eastern's, is that true??
What should I expect to pay for a female this year??
Thanks
Steve

They are more rare in that there are fewer breeders. In the wild they are much more common, but that has nothing to do with how many are captive bred (and therefore legally available).
Since I will be selling zero this year I don't know how much they will go for. I've seen prices in the $750-$1000 range, with females going for more than males. Some still have them going for less than easterns, but I've seen one or two breeders selling them at the same price.
Good luck on finding one or two! If you find 3, let me know!
Good luck finding a single female. BUT if you do PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE drop me a line.
