I heard they're mature @ 12". Are you sure he's 3? 13" is small for a 3 year old. My guy is barely 2 and he's almost 20". Best of luck w/ pairing him.

My male hognose is as old as yours, and no bigger. His offspring are pipping as we speak...

Size seems to matter more than age..Last year I had a exreme red albino produce 80 offspring at 9 months of age and 15-16in. in size, this year I had a 2xhet for snow produce almost 40 good eggs at the same age he is about 15in.. Both were brumated for only 4-6 weeks at 50-60'F from Jan-March.

Justin

I would feed him one small meal 2x per week until January 1st, stop feeding him and around januaray 7th reduce to the 70's with no light. Jan 14 reduce into the 60's and by the 21 low 60's high 50's.
Come feb 10th or so let him get back into the 70's with light by the 14 83' and start feeding keep in mind sometimes they will not feed right away after brumation, this is normal of both sexes.. Introduce to the females after they shed or if you notice a ovulatory swelling. She can lay 4-8 weeks after this..the longer she retains the eggs the shorter the hatch duration which can be as early as 35 days, generally 45-55 at 82-83'F with a 1/4 water to weight ratio in a 50/50 pearlite/vermiculite medium.
LOL Reads like a good recipe... this is what works for me!!

Justin

Wow Justin, how many times have you had eggs hatch in 35 days. That 's crazy! Have they been smaller, bigger, or about the same size babies?
