Cage size question??

toyota85 Jun 23, 2007 10:04 PM

So I was just wondering what would be an ideal tub size "qt wise" for Brooksi kingsnakes? I am thinking of making a new rack soon and I want to plan it out for adult size snakes. So any suggestions are appreciated. Plus the forum has been a bit dead lately so I figured why not ask now! Also what kingsnake is considered the largest kingsnake? I know these are noobish questions, but I can't help it if I am a noob! So bare with me! Thanks for any help!

I don't really know the answers to your questions, but I've been told ours will get to be about five feet. I just wanted to respond because I like that you have a Churchill quote in your signature. Also I wanted you to post a picture of your horned frog, that sounds interesting. Good luck with the rack planning/building.

I'm having good luck with 41 Qt. Sterilite boxes from Wal-Mart. After a great deal of research in both manufactured and homemade racks, I decided to build my own out of pre-cut 16x36 melamine shelving from Lowes. It's not a whole lot less espensive than buying a rack, but the advantage with the design I settled on is that you can expand it as needed. They also look pretty sharp if you cover the screws. Mine holds three tubs, two with snakes and one I use to store my extra supplies (bulbs, heating supplies, extra screws and stuff). The important thing to note is that the shelving is not quite wide enough, so I had to add some strips to the edges. I was worried that it would look getto, but it came out looking pretty good. I'll post some picks; maybe you can get some ideas.

Good luck!
