What age do GTP's lay eggs?

rudys119 Jun 24, 2007 01:16 PM

Pretty much what it says above. My GTP is less than a year old. Still its yellow color though it looks like it my start to change soon. All of a sudden when i looked in her cage i noticed 7 eggs in the bottom corner directly underneath where she has been hanging. She was looking a lil plump, i was just attributing this to the fact she had a large meal recently. I thought that they didnt lay eggs until at least 2-3. At first I thought it was just her poo but looking closer they are definatly eggs. ill get pics up in a lil bit.

Here are some pics of my GTP plus the eggs.
The egg pics were with my cell phone so they are a lil blurry

I would never expect eggs from a snake that young, but that's what they look like along with some urates there. I'm sure you'll get some feedback from some of the more experienced breeders here. Ben? Shiloh?

Well...

What temps do you use for the day and night? What were your temps for the last 3-4 months like?

I find this to be very strange and semi far fetched, however if you are being serious I would guess that you had lower temps for a while there and she ovulated, developed folicles and dropped slugs... I have never heard of it happening at this age before, so you probably need to be a little more careful with your temps so you don't cause her to do it again in the future...

Where did you get the animal and how long have you had it?

thanks
