I have a vision rack and i use a helix thermostat. I put the probe under the tub in the middle of the rack about 2 to 3 inches from the heat cable with foil tape. I set the temp to 90 and i get a pretty even temp gradient with a 1 degree diffence from top to bottom. Hope this helps! What type of rack did you order?

We have numerous types of racks and also different types of thermostats but on all of them it is best to put the probe on the heat source and make sure it is secure. If for any reason the probe wasnt on the hottest point in the cage some thermostats will not shut off and will keep trying to heat the rack till the programmed temp is met, if the probe is accidently knocked out of the cage or moved the hot spot can get into the 100s very easily and can be serious for your house and deadly for your snakes.
