ok so I have a female that has never been bred...she came to me around 1400 grams and stuck around there (she's only been with me for a few weeks)I had her with a male and never witnessed any copualtions but she has been "lumpy" for a week or so and always in a coiled position....the thing is she hasnt stopped eating yet..last week she took food from me and weighed around the same as usual...but a few days later she weighed around 200 grams more!....no more food had been offered/taken between those two weighings so I'm kind of confused and thought she may be developing eggs but she JUST took a rat from me as soon as offered....any help on what may or may not be happening would be great.

If you just started breeding her, give it some time. In a month put your male in with her for three days. Then take him out and give him a rest. Feed her if she wants to eat. In a couple of months she will stop feeding. Keep cycling him through her cage untell they don't bred anymore. Maybe by Nov. you'll get eggs. Christmas babies, that would be cool. Good luck. Claude
