Gravid Sanzinia?

shedthegear Jun 25, 2007 05:08 PM

I have 2.1 Green Phase Sanzania that I tried to breed this past season.

I never saw the female ovulate, she's only had 1 meal since last November (and she regularly ate 1-3 times per month) and she still has some size to her in her belly area.

She just shed last week for the first time since last year.

Could she be gravid? If so, when can I expect to see some little ones?

Typical gravid sanzinia will eat much less or not at all. However I don't use fasting as an indicator for a gravid snake as my females won't eat for 4-5 months a year anyway.

The things I look more for are that the females will also bask (not normal sanzinia behavior)and they get much darker.

If she is gravid you can expect babies anytime. Good luck with them.
