Dealing with mites

ROC Jun 25, 2007 07:34 PM

Today I noticed my JCP has what I'm guessing are mites. There appear to be some around the eyes, there were dead bugs in the water (has been soaking alot recently) and one crawled off on me. Have never had a problem like this before, so I'm not sure what to do. I'm guessing these came from the cypress mulch or branch in his tank because none of my other snakes have shown any signs of mites. Right now I took him out of the tank and he's now in a sweater box with newspaper bedding, a dish of water and a hide box. How should I go about clearing this up? The only thing I can think of would be those mite sprays on the market. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Get yourself a spray bottle of a product called Reptile Relief. This product is available at stores like Petsmart and Petco as well as most reptile dealers and "on line" pet supplies vendors. It is totaly non toxic and is the only EPA registered mite killer that does not require any warning lables! It is so safe that you do not even have to remove the water bowl or the animal from the cage when using it. The best news is that it works. It melts the exoskeleton of the mites and they die instantly on contact. Unlike other mite products it kills all stages of the parasite including the eggs, larva, pupae and adults. It can be sprayed directly on the reptile and in and around their enclosures and as soon as contact is made with the mites they are dead. I have used this product as well as almost everything else on the market and I'll never use anything else again. This is one of the few products that seem too good to be true but trust me it works. A totally nontoxic mite killer that won't hurt your reptiles, or you, but is 100% effective at wiping out your mite problem. What more could you want!
