Cage Sharing?

Greenchunks Jun 25, 2007 10:26 PM

I currently have a Male Colombian Rainbow Boa that is a little under a year old and doing great. He's a bit under 24 inches long and decent sized around, and growing nicely. He's currently in a 10 gallon terrarium but was going to get moved to a 20 or 40 in a couple of months.
My question is as follows: I may have a lead on getting a Brazilian Rainbow for very little cost but I really don't want to get another cage and all the supplies (I already have a jungle carpet python that's growing like crazy). Would it be possible for me to house the two rainbow's together? I don't know what the gender of the Brazilian will be, should I try and get a male or a female? I know the temp and humidity requirements of the two are very similar, so that should be ok for both if I have it at roughly 80 on the cool side and 88 on the warm size. Will I need to put another hide in there for the new one? Thanks for all your guys' help.

My opinions:

Not a good idea to house two of the same species together except for breeding.

Bad idea to house two subadults of the same species together.

Very bad idea to house two different species together.

This could be your result, rare, but DOES happen!!

Davey Giltners 2 baby bci, each ate one mouse, then one ate the other. Both snakes died.
