Opps seems half my post got cut off somehow, but the rest was wondering if they just use a heater on a thermostat to keep a balenced room temp for whatever they are breeding instead of a million flexwatts or UTH pads to keep things simpler/safer for them and the snakes
Even those that are dedicated to just one species, continue to use cage heat as a supplemental source. Typically we use a single unit weather it be radient or standard forced air to het the room to a standard temp. I myself keep my room around 76*, each cage than has its own source that heats the hot spot to the correct temperature for the species within the enclosure.
Some things to consider are that during night time hours heat from lights isn't available and that during the day the temps will rise because of additional lighting.
Also many profesionals use RHP instead of heat tape, just another way to go.
Cheers!

I dont exactly compare myself to a professional breeding scale or anything, but I do have about 15 snakes in tanks and tubs in a room, and I just keep the room heated to about 82*. Actually, I dont even go out of my way to heat it. I have a computer in that room with a 22" CRT monitor and that seems to generate plenty of heat to keep the room warm. If it gets too hot in there, I either turn the monitor off, or open the vent to the house HVAC a bit more. I keep the door closed, and that contains the environment mostly.
Soon enough though I will be converting a back room in my garage as a "herp only" room, about 12x16. Then I'll be going with isolated room heating and cooling. Something uncomplicated to reduce the odds of hardware failure and cooking or freezing my snakes.
