its been talked about ALOT so this year i thought id just see. i also crossed ssp. to liven it up all the more.
the '05 l.g.nigra is about 22-24inches she has always been a great eater albeit slow grower she was brumated and developed follicles so i said hey might as well have some fun so i bred her w/a stripe newport type calking.

today i discovered these...

only 4 but big imho considering how small the mom is, its interesting that the eggs are calking shaped, when ive bred nigra true in the past i always got the more roundish type eggs it will be cool to see what comes out of them in a few months, judging by the egg shape im gonna say the calking will be dominant but thats just a guess. also hybridhaters relax these are just for my own personal enjoyment and curiosity. ,,,,,,,,,,,thomas davis

a few of my cali's lay the roundish eggs as well but most of mine lay the long tube like eggs. my nigra always have had the round type except this girl and being she bred with a calking i am assuming thats where it came from,,,,,,,,,thomas

Could be. I'm just assuming the genetics of the father don't have too much of an impact on shape of eggs laid by the mother. Might though. Would be interesting to test.

My "hypothesis" (if you can call it that, I don't exactly have a lot of data to support it) is that females that are genetically inclined to lay bigger clutches will produce smaller more roundish eggs than females that are inclined to lay larger clutches.
