what is a good heat mat to heat BRB and . ive seen one at pet store that stick to the bottom of the tank and was wondering if those were good? or heat tape much would would need in lengths . or any other mats i know ill need a stat too. thanks

Really depends on the enclosure. Let us know what you're planning on using and we can then recommend an appropriate heater.
AND yes, a T-stat is recommended! (minimaly a rheostat could control the heater)

Exactly my point, I was thinking cage, not container. One strip of three inch flexwatt placed under one end should suffice. IF the tub is not kept in a cold area of the house. I have a dedicated snake room and it stays warm enough in there that snakes could survive for quite some time with no additional heat at all. I'd say a dozen or so small (3/16"
holes at the non heated end should be fine.
If you were to make a rack like this would help to retain heat:
