20 plus, late Tuesday pix. no DU

rainbowsrus Jun 27, 2007 03:36 AM

Was doing the nightly cleaning thang and snapped some pix of a few recent shed and just plain stunning snakes.

First up is Dotty a hypo BRB from Mike Lockwood

This is Dusty, not the best looking BRB but he is het anery from Brian Sharp

Pepper is a aby line BCI male from Basically boas

Honey is also a BCI from basically boas and has a nice pattern and caramel coloring to her

Honey and Pepper together, Honey is toward the back still coiled up while Pepper is toward the front and draped accross her. That's why you only see bits of him.

Phoenix, one of my top holdback BRB males from 2005, he just shed and wow that boy is HOT HOT HOT

W/flash

w/out flash

And last but by no means least is Reeses. He's a pastel salmon BCI from summit reptiles 2005 litter. He's one of my favorite boas. The color on this lad is off the charts, I can only seem to catch glimpses of it.

Oh yeah, just for kicks, pix of Reeses older half brother Tahoe. Tahoe is no slouch, a very nice Summit Salmon but dulls when compared to Reeses.

Hope you enjoyed the pix!!

Those are some wicked looking snakes!!

This might sound strange, but can you post a picture of the setup you use to take pictures of your snakes? I'd like to see it.

Thanks

Thanks Rob.

Not strange at all, and by no means a studio type setup. It's simply the top of a melamine cage, in my snakeroom. I have a tracklight overhead with floods and GE reveal flood bulbs. I'll see if I can get a pic tonight. Actually quite crowded in the room.

Pretty tough language for a lil wisp of a girl.

Whatcha gonna do, fly on over and kick my arse?

Actually Daisey is not in next years breeding plans, she's not a strong eater and will take another year to get to decent size.

popped right as I hit "post message", Daisey, not Amber. Sooo many hot chicks it's hard to keep track of them.

Daisey is of course in the breeding plans for next year but at this time I'm leaning towards pimping her out to her father for a double dose of orange. OOuuuu gross!!

Yeah, Fred's her dad, not sure which of the two females was her mom, Howard didn't keep records.

Honestly for anyone looking in, I don't plan on doing a lot of line breeding. I have worked very hard to amass a very diverse collection of BRB's for just that purpose. I DO however plan on some line breeding for specific traits and colors. As I understand it, you can go several generations of line breeding before problems start to occur and I plan on outcrossing long before I ever get there.

Some specific line breedings I have planned (most are single year ones)

Daisey back to her father
Pheonix back to his mother
The entire genesis project
Lon to sibling Lily
maybe some bullseye female back to Lefty

dave you sick sick man how dare you breed your mother to your sisters lovers uncles cousins brother geesh and i thought you had some class. i think there is WAY moreline breeding going on in every other species *cough boas and balls cough* that the lil bit of line breeding goin on here and there onen generation isnt anything to worry about lol heck i plan on line breeding 2 generations at most but still i dont plan on anything more than that but i have to with hets and the dbl rescessive/ co-dom crosses ya know. and if ppl dont like it tell them never to buy a morph again since they are beyond line bred or even a pure bred dog or cat cause pure bred dogs/cats are the biggest inbred/line bred animals there are :D ok just felt like typing alot lol have fun reading all

medyssa Jun 27, 2007 10:04 PM

I was hoping you would have pictures of them so I could see how their colors are coming in.

I believe your right on the flash thing, I do switch my camera settings around trying to capture a better image. Then proceed to forget which pic was with what setting.....argh!!!!
