Those who breed their own mealworms

marty_gecko Aug 17, 2003 08:19 PM

I have 14 geckos and would like to breed my own mealworms. I have read a few sites but still have a few questions.
About how many mealies should I set aside to breed? How many mealworms come from a beetle? Does this need to be at a specific temperature? Do you have any other hints that could help me out?
So many questions. Thanks for your time!

You can never have just one gecko. Actually it is almost impossible to have two

Seems like they give you some information, but don't want to tell you the whole story so they can sell you more mealies!

just click the link at the bottom, thats my website, and I have a page on mealworms. I'm doing updates so keep your eye out. I also have a gut-load section as well. I think you'll find it very useful.

I have found your website to be helpful. you say to set aside 1 to 2 thousand mealies. So you would have 1 to 2 thousand beetles then? How many mealworms would that produce? Just the missing link I have with your information. I would like to breed enough and a little extra. But on the other hand, I don't want mealies to take over my house. The wife may get a little peaved
