>>but if it is homo for the amel gene AND the anery gene it would be snow.... that is why I say ultra snow instead of ultra ghost because it is homo for amel as well. I am confusing myself though. I think we are saying the exact same thing just calling it something else I was just curious to know exactly what the animal was. It is a very beautifull animal and I am assuming the first of its kind?
Nah, it isn't homozygous for amel or ultra or anything else of interest except motley and anerA. It is het for amel and het for ultra HYPO. That's what makes it an ultramel. (remember those 2 traits are allelic.) Calling it a snow or a ghost is only 50% "right" in either case, but these animals are producing SONE black pigments. Doesn't that sound more like a ghost than a snow? It is not completley lacking melanin - just a reduced amount....like a ghost. AND ultra means homozygous for the ultra gene - which this isn't - so an ultra ghost or ultra snow are both misleeading.
I don't know if it is the first...it is certainly ONE of the first, and it is the first one i know about posted online.
