The one question I'd like answered is: Why were these bills written in the first place? Obviously they will play little (if any) part in curtailing commercial collection, particularly turtles, collared lizards and rattlesnakes.

They did it because they were told it would "fix problems"
It looked good from the outside to fix commercial collecting and address safety concerns at the same time.
It will not work, we know it, and we need to help them fix it..

John............This new law brewhaahaa has been going on for what........almost 6 months? I have yet to hear the rationale behind giving herpers the boot from public roads and right of way by this Hilderbrad guy.
I find it somewhat amusing that herpers are posthumously offering their enemy the olive branch. They are wasting their time. This guy did his job! He was paid to get herpers off the road. The law is now in effect.........Done Deal!
You now need to look to the judiciary for injunctive relief to prevent enforcement. Someone will have to contest a citation for a finding for constitutionality. That is a long process.
In the meantime, spend some money and hire a private detective to see if the Hilderbrad guy has any skeletons in his closet. Put him under the microscope. If you can find some kind of a scandal...........get it out in the public eye. Make sure you support the opposing candidate(I don't care what district your from) next time this guy is up for re-election. Too late to be sucking up to this guy, you need to run his butt out of office.
