Gesture of goodwill...FOR ALL PARTIES

rpelaez Jun 27, 2007 02:38 PM

I have to relay some facts to everyone before getting to the gesture. First, Todd K. tells Aaron that the effective date of enforcement of this ban is Sept 1. Then, Robert McDonald at TPWD tells a friend of mine that the effective date would be Sept. 1. We then proceed to buy $170 worth of non-resident hunting licenses. He calls McDonald back to confirm about a week later after reading some disturbing posts on Kingsnake.com and McDonald reverses course and tells him that enforcement is immediate. Now, I THINK a political agreement to stay enforcement of this “mistake” until a compromise can be reached CAN and WOULD provide a HUGE gesture of goodwill. That said, I don’t know whether it's possible. If it is – IT SHOULD BE DONE ASAP, IMO.

They did agree that we needed special considerations because of the nature of hunting at night after all...

I am sure we could have good splint in place by Sept 1st that both sides can work with until the next session.

Next session we could make things clear on the books with some luck and not have to worry so much.

Looks like you Texas boy's were played by TP&W and this Todd K. You seem to have believed that since the law would not take effect till Sept. 1, this summer herping season would be business as usual. Now that the powers that be, have your license fees(non-refundable from what I hear), they have changed the game plan. I'm real curious on how you think you can work a compromise with folks of this ilk, in order to get your public hunting rights back. Come on guys.........the alarm bell should have been ringing loud and clear when this politician stated that public highways will become a "sanctuary" for wildlife. Anyone with a pea-brain knows highways are more akin to the death zone.
