Young guns story....

chuck911jeep Jun 27, 2007 08:59 PM

The doreanus ssp. bred May 28.
The female had all the symptom of a gravid female. Lost apetite, only eat small prey at the end, seem incomfortable in all position, ect.
This pic was takin June 18 (for once i have good pic, thank's Stav!)

Her belly still inflate over the week. She spend 2 days in the nestbox to get out yesterday thin like a female after laying......... I dig, dig, dig to find out,... nothing!
Maby next time.
Take care!
Justin

except for dwarf monitors (and once occurance with sand crosses), that's kind of been the story of my life. Maybe next time. But probably not. hahaha

Mike you must be plagued with a curs?
Your new female dropped eggs twice in a crappy macaw cage in a store?
I was really pulling for you this time.

Cursed or just dumb. That girl is dead. She cycled and swelled up nicely. She had a nice 'big' nest site with 'deep' dirt, leaf etc nest spot (of course I know it was tiny regardless for a croc monitor). I did not witness any copulation so I do not know if she had fertile eggs. But regardless, she did not even dig at all in the nest site. I just found her lying on the floor dead one morning all swollen up. It was wierd because her head was up off the floor, like she was lying awake. So it's pretty sad she at least laid eggs at a pet store and then died egg bound here.
But as I always say -
..'Round Two!........

Hello Mike,
Did you examine, cut open the female to see if it was egg swelling or ovary swelling associated with de-parasitizing chemicals? Just curious- want to learn more about this- Mike

No, just threw her in the garbage. Quite unceremonious. Plus I, nor anyone here, would be able to tell dickens from such a procedure.
