New GTP Owner... Quick Question

swara Aug 17, 2003 08:52 PM

Hey to everyone!! I am a new GTP owner... Bought him at Daytona... He's beautiful... But now I have a stupid question and I fell really bad and would appreciate some help... My GTP is the Yellow/Red coloration and has a very black tail... Is this normal... the lady we bought him from said yes but neither of us can recall seeing one with a black tail... Please let us know....

I believe all GTPS have a black tail. They use their tail to lure their prey, so it looks like a worm or caterpillar instead of a snake tail. Eyelash vipers do the same thing and their tailtips are black as well.

Hope that helped a little.

Thanks!! That helps a lot... we are trying to see if he is under weight... gonna try and get some pictures up in a bit... seems a bit light for the length....
BTW is anyone's GTP "tame"? As in handling?
Thanks for the help...
