Business name opinions...

charmer Jun 27, 2007 11:15 PM

I am a bit embarrassed to be asking about this amongst so many experienced people, but even though I haven't really gotten 'up and running' as far as a working business/hobby... I've given serious thought to getting a name registered in advance. Especially since I had my first decent litter of hets this year and plan on selling/trading some now and in expectation of litters that I'm hoping to get next year.
There are so many classy names out there... but it's really hard to find one that isn't taken or totally cheesy... or similar to someone elses. So without offending anyone with anything similar to anothers or that is already out there... I thought I'd throw a few out for an opinion. IF it exists anywhere in the world, please tell me... I've already done assumed business name searches in Oregon, where I reside.

er... hit the wrong button!
Well I was considering "For the Love of Snakes..." or "Striking Exotics," but I know the second one is pretty similar to someone elses business name... I got some cheesy ones from friends too... I kinda liked "Slick Snakes" even though it sounded juvenile...
I have thought out a few more, but I want to see where this post goes and if you guys think I should have been more 'quiet' about what I have considered.
Thanks guys,
Steph S.

If you like a name run with it. I got one for you "SSSS" and underneithe the "ssss" have "Steph's Super Sexxxy Serpents"

but seriously even if a name seems silly it might be effective. I chose Cloaca because its a funny name. How many "steve's snakes" "marks lizards" "My C@c^ is bigger than yours reptiles" are there out there? come up with something creative and run with it.

Good luck.

You've all been really helpful, too bad the one is taken, but I'm glad someone knew! I felt really stupid and er, exposed posting some of my names, but you've all made me feel a lot better about it and I'm grateful I'm not the only one who's had or having problems with a name! ;p
I wanted it to sound business-like, but fun... and there are so many out there! I even joked around about S.O.S. Southern Oregon Snakes... haha... cheesy or what?
I guess I'll keep trying and when I find a good one I'll know right!? Well I actually thought I did, twice!! They were taken LOL!
Thanks for all the responses, and keep them coming if you have more!

I actually like S.O.S It is easy to remember even if the person cant remember the whole name. We have our company which is retail sales for CB snakes and also a wholesale company both companies have abbreveations which makes writting check and everything else a little easier, plus i think it looks great for logos..lol..
Both of our names came up quick one actually as a joke. N.A.R.C is our retail company it stands for North American Reptile Connection and A.R.R.F which is our wholesale company which stands for American Reptile and Rodent Farm .

Good luck in your searches, it is funny it is easier to come up with names for other people but when it comes to picking a name for yourslef it is next to impossible.

THANKS! I am familiar with your names and I think I got a grin out of it at one time or another ;p... I really appreciate your opinion and your reasoning for an abbreviated name makes a lot of sense!
I do have one question though... when/if I register the name... would I use Southern Oregon Snakes or S.O.S.?
Thanks,
Steph S.

I personally would do both so no one can steal the one that you didnt register. I buy all the domains i can that associate with the buisness just to cover all the bases. Better to be safe then sorry
Good luck again

Yeah you should go with what you like.

Cheesy or not.

I went with Black Forest Constrictors because it sounded Tuff

and Gothic.

I was thinking of the....

Deep,Darkest,Blackest part of the Amazon Jungle.

I realized too LATE that there is a real Black Forest in

Germany and has nothing to do with Tropical Constrictors and

Pythons. OOOooops !!!!!!

I came up with my buss. name strictly as a fluke. I had produced my first litter of anerys and hets, and had sold some to the petshop where I worked. The owner needed me to give him an invoice for them. I came up with B.A.H. Reptiles. Born At Home. Talk about slick

You know what is funny, when I told my Mom about S.O.S. for Southern Oregon Snakes, she said... "What if you move??" So I told her I could always change the meaning of S.O.S. to Steph's Ophiological Service... and I got a laugh out of it because she asked... "Ya, so what the heck does that mean?" So I saw your suggestion and had to chuckle... I like it though... Oi, so hard to make these kind of decisions! Yours is a really good one by the way!
Thanks Jeff,
Steph S.
