How to set up a fogger system.

antonm Aug 17, 2003 09:24 PM

I've been getting a lot of emails asking me how to set up the fogger system shown below. Just incase anyone else is interested, its actually quite simple as shown in this schematic:

It is basically a $55 project. $47 goes to the COLD AIR (MUST be cold air) humidifier that you can buy at longs drugs or at Frys. The reason to get the most powerfull one is because its the only one with the round hole in the bottom perfect for a 2" to 1.5" PVC adapter. You can use any size piping after the 2" adapter (eg. 2" to 1" but the 2" fits perfectly into the humidifier hole. Move the little tongue piece inside the humidifier and it should slide in perfectly.

The real life images can be found here:

Just curious ... why does the humidifier have to be cold air mist rather than warm air? I like your system, and would like to use it on my crestie cage, but am worried the cold mist would make it TOO cold for them. Thanks for sharing!

Its nowhere near too cold in my opinion. Infact it helps me cool down the cage just right on hot days here. Unless you add ice cubes its nearly room temp once it travels up the tubes and into your tank, fog warms up very quickly. Warm air on the other hand will heat up the tank too much and it also I think makes more bacteria, or so I was told.
