ANTS POSE THREAT TO LARGE LIZARDS ?

shawno Jun 28, 2007 03:45 PM

hello, I just got a new place and it has plenty of space for my monitors, but I have a lot of black ants and there is a trail of them leading into one of my smaller varanids' cage. I have never had to deal with this before anybody got a solution? Is this dangerous, it cant be good?

You can put cages on legs. You can then put the legs in a container of water. This creates the same effect as a moat. I have heard multiple accounts where fire ants killed and ate reptiles. However, I don't know that the black ants are dangerous like the fire ants we have here in Florida. Good luck.
