Hide Boxes

zoeytheblood Jun 28, 2007 06:45 PM

I need a larger hide box for my blood, she can barely fit into it. Most retailers do not carry anything that large. I don't have the accessible tools to really create anything or build anything. So, she is about 4 feet long now, and she is thick of course. What would anyone suggest using? Something heavy enough so she wont move it around too much of course. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I cut trashcans in half for alot of them, cheap and seems to work pretty well. You can always use a cardboard box or some type of random tupperware or even a pot bottom (the big ceramic dishes). Just get creative, it's not that hard to find something that will work.

I've tried a couple different hides but mine always just skipped the hide and went under their newspaper, now I just put crumpled up piles of newspaper on each end.

i use upside down plastic flower pot bases with a semi circle cut out of it until they out grow it. then they move up to a sterilite sweater box with a cirlce cut out og an end and i fill it with spagnum moss which spray damp they are in shead.

Hi,
The food industry uses these grey colored plastic dish containers to put or place dirty dishes into. They are great for just this sort of thing, although, the makers don't know that. At any rate, these are about the size of a sweater box and are opaque so that light will not pass through it and give the solitude a big blood likes. Get a hole saw and attach it to a drill gun and make a 4-5 inch hole. Or use a small hand held saw and cut away. Also, large cat litter boxes sold at Pet Land or Petco work well too.

I use large size cat litter box's and make 4-5 inch hole, cost about 6 bucks at walmart or target.
