HYTEC Boas - Updated Photos!

wetceal Jun 29, 2007 01:08 AM

Hello Everyone!

I'm finally back after a few weeks off taking a vacation overseas. I have been taking LOTS of photos since I got back and wanted to share some updated photos of the Hypo Aztec Boas. We have decided to name these guys HYTEC Boas...

SO, it gives us great pleasure to present to you all, the Hytec Boas!

Let me know what you think!

Thanks,
Celia

And here are a couple of photos of the normal Aztec...

Those guys look awesome, I still find it amazing how well they kept the Aztec pattern.

kept the pattern!

That has got to be one of the coolest Morphs to hit the hobby! Anyone breeding Aztec to Aztec to see what comes of it? Super form?? They kind of remind me of Motleys in a way.....

Very nice and congrats!

I'd be curious to see a pic of their ventrals, do you have any?
Great to see you two doing so well!

undersides yet but I will next time I'm doing photos.

The bellies on the Hytecs are actually very different than the bellies on the regular Aztecs. The regular Aztecs have an incredibly bold speckled belly. There are dots all down the bellies of the Aztecs almost in two lines down either side of the stomach. The dots are good sized and more like actually more like small circles than speckles.

However, the bellies on the Hytecs are extremely clean - similar to Hypo Boa stomachs. A little bit of patterning comes in on the underside where the tail saddles start and all of them have extreme patterning on the underside of the tail area past the vent. The patterning there is either a stripe or several squares/rectangles creating a ladder-tail like look.

Some of the Hytecs have clean white bellies while others have clean bright pink/red bellies. The contrasts in stomach color and patterning between the Aztecs and the Hytecs are very interesting!

Thanks,
Celia

Hello, Thank you Celia for posting those pictures, the Hytecs look stunning and this is just the tip of the ice burg as far as color mutations involving the Aztec.

My brother Bob and I have always thought the Aztecs had some kind of pigmentation mutation going on along with the pattern mutation. Celia and Sean have mentioned that not only was there a pattern thing going on but also a color thing going on. As it turns out we were both right. The only reason why the pattern wasn't disrupted was because the Aztec does have some kind of hypo thing going on and the addition of the other hypo trait enhanced the existing form of hypo. That's the reason the Hytec looks like some crazy T positive.

Now here's the question...? Like I've said I think there is some kind of hypo thing going on with the Aztec. So what's going to happen when the hypo mutations from 2 Aztecs are combined...? I think we might see something really crazy.

Again thanks for the pictures Celia and best of luck. Here's hoping for Super Aztecs. Take care and stay safe. Ciao. Andrew

anxious to see if you are right on that theory! Hopefully you are and we'll see an awesome, insanely crazy looking Super Aztec Boa!

I cant believe how well they held their pattern in hypo form. I am REALLY anticipating aztec sunglows now. I love high contrast / big patterned sunglows and I bet the aztec sunglow will take that look to the extreme. Can't wait!

we're really happy with the way these babies turned out as well! I can't wait to see how they develop as they grow. They already have such intense coloration right now and the Aztecs only get more colorful with age. Some of them do have a very "T positive-ish" look to them!

Andrew is right - this is just the tip of the iceburg on the possibilities with this amazing morph. I can't wait to see what Sunglow Aztecs or Albino (Kahl and Sharp line) Aztecs or Anery Aztecs or Ghost Aztecs, T-positive Aztecs etc. etc. etc. will look like! Not to mention if there's a Super Aztec and the endless combinations with that!

Thanks,
Celia
